The Ultimate Northern Tanzania journey is built for travellers who do not want to rush the classic circuit. It combines Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti, while giving the Serengeti enough time to explore beyond a single game drive.

The route can be tailored toward migration, predators, photography, family travel, romance or simply a slower private safari. Your final Serengeti sector should be selected around your travel dates and the wildlife you most want to experience.

Rather than adding unnecessary stops, the extra days are used for longer wildlife sessions, better positioning and more relaxed transitions between landscapes.

9-DAY MASTER ITINERARY

The Ultimate Northern Tanzania.

A fuller Northern Circuit designed around time in the field. The itinerary can be shifted by season, with the Serengeti portion positioned according to your dates and interests.

DAY 01Arusha → Tarangire
Leave Arusha after breakfast and travel toward Tarangire National Park. Begin your safari with an afternoon game drive through baobab country, river corridors and open woodland. Overnight in or around Tarangire.
DAY 02Full Day Tarangire
Spend a full day exploring Tarangire at a slower pace. Follow wildlife movement around the river and seasonal water sources, with opportunities to look for elephants, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, predators and birdlife. Overnight near Tarangire.
DAY 03Tarangire → Lake Manyara
Enjoy a final morning in Tarangire before continuing toward Lake Manyara. Explore the forest and lake-edge habitats during an afternoon game drive, then overnight around Manyara or Karatu.
DAY 04Lake Manyara → Ngorongoro
Continue into the Ngorongoro highlands after a morning Manyara experience. Depending on your interests and the confirmed programme, the afternoon can be used for a relaxed lodge experience or an approved cultural activity.
DAY 05Ngorongoro Crater — Full Safari
Descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a dedicated game drive. Spend the day exploring the crater floor and its varied habitats before ascending to your accommodation in the highlands. Overnight near Ngorongoro.
DAY 06Ngorongoro → Serengeti
Travel west into Serengeti with game viewing along the way. The route and final camp location can be selected around the season, allowing the safari to be positioned where wildlife activity is most relevant to your dates.
DAY 07Serengeti — Full Day
Spend a full day in the Serengeti with no major transfer scheduled. Follow the wildlife with your guide, exploring plains, kopjes and predator territories. This day can be strongly focused on photography, Big Five viewing or migration depending on your priorities.
DAY 08Serengeti — Second Full Day
Another full day gives the safari room to move. If the season calls for it, the itinerary can be positioned toward the northern Serengeti; at other times the central, western or southern areas may make more sense. The exact location should be confirmed around current seasonal conditions.
DAY 09Serengeti → Arusha
Enjoy a final morning game drive before travelling toward the airstrip or onward route. Depending on your confirmed logistics, continue to Arusha or connect onward by scheduled or charter flight. Zanzibar can be added as a separate beach extension.
The Serengeti sector is intentionally flexible. Migration routes, wildlife concentrations, camp availability and air schedules vary by season, so the final positioning should be confirmed for your travel dates.

Planning the ultimate circuit.

Why choose nine days instead of six?+
The additional time is used for slower safari days, a full Tarangire experience, a dedicated Ngorongoro day and two full days in the Serengeti. It reduces the feeling of simply moving from one park to another.
Which Serengeti area should we stay in?+
It depends on your travel dates and priorities. Central Serengeti can provide year-round wildlife opportunities; other sectors may be more appropriate for specific seasonal migration movements. The final sector should be selected when planning the trip.
Can this focus on the Great Migration?+
Yes. The itinerary can be repositioned around the seasonal migration cycle. The exact location and timing of wildlife movement should be treated as seasonal and not guaranteed.
Can we make it luxury?+
Yes. The route can be quoted with premium lodges, private camps or other high-end accommodation according to availability.
Can we add Zanzibar?+
Yes. Zanzibar works naturally as a post-safari extension, subject to the confirmed flight schedule and your available travel time.
